The next exhibition, the 14th, outside Poland, took place at Kids Ark Academy in Livingstone, Zambia. This exhibition was unique in that the children had direct access to the works, which were arranged on desks. They could touch and examine each piece up close. The exhibition was preceded by the singing of the national anthem of independent Zambia, followed by a loud communal prayer. The exhibition was graced with full honors, and the coat of arms around her neck, by the mayor of Livingstone, Constance Nalishebo Muleabai. The interest of the highly disciplined students, as well as the teachers and entire school staff, exceeded all expectations.

Several dozen young artists, along with their families and friends, gathered for the 13th exhibition outside Poland – in Bulgaria, in Veliko Tarnovo, the historical capital of Bulgaria, serving in this capacity primarily during the Second Bulgarian Empire (12th–14th centuries). The city served as the country’s most important political, economic, and cultural center before the period of Ottoman rule. It is one of Bulgaria’s cities richest in historical monuments.
The exhibition was held in the Fifth Building of Veliko Tarnovo University “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”. The organizers from the Bulgarian side were: the Faculty of Pedagogy and its Dean, Professor Marinela Michova and Dr. Galina Nikolova.

Never before has there been such emotion among children and their parents as at the opening of the 13th exhibition of the Competition’s finalists in Havana, Cuba. One participant received a cash prize from the Polish Madame Chromatique Foundation. It ended in tears for his parents…
The exhibition was presented in perhaps the most prestigious artistic venue in Cuba – in the Experimental Graphic Workshop of Havana (TEGH) is a cultural institution with 64 years of experience promoting the development of Cuban and international artistic printmaking, communitary and exchange programs, and cultural management. It was founded on 1962, and this year celebrates its 64th anniversary, making it the oldest and leading institution for printmaking in the country. The production of works and exhibitions from TEGH aim to create a space that showcases artistic productions linked to this important art form. Limited edition lithographs, woodcuts, etchings, monotypes, collagraphs, and experimental works based on printmaking are produced. The Experimental Graphic Workshop of Havana has a membership of over 100 artists and a collection of works, printmaking presses, and lithographic stones that are among the most important Collections and Printmaking Center in the Americas.
The director of TEGH Yamilys Brito Jorge: “The work of the Graphic Arts Workshop with children is very important as it guarantees the continuity of a tradition and gives children the opportunity to develop their spirituality through creation, even un the middle of critical social situations.
We are so grateful and honored that our Cuban children and young can participate in the Children’s Art Contest in the name of Asia Kowalczewska, and that they can reflect in their paintings, drawings, and prints the reality of their country, their families, and their homes, as well as their hopes and dreams of a better future… Therefore, we extend our gratitude to Adam Kowalczewski for placing this opportunity in our hands and to the Madame Chromatique Foundation for its support of children from disadvantaged situation.”

Osnovna šola draga bajca Vipava

The 11th international exhibition has arrived in Slovenia – at the Osnovna šola Draga Bajca Vipava. This school is also known beyond Slovenian borders, partly due to its collaborations with several countries. Among other things, the school is implementing a project called “Journey with Emotional Wellbeing in Education, for Life,” in which it collaborates with four other European schools: Clocha Rince NS (Ireland), Colegio de Educación Infantil y Primaria Arana Beato (Spain), Kempeleen Ylikylän yhtenäiskoulu (Finland), and Istituto Comprensivo E. Galvaligi (Italy). In this project, students and teachers from various countries participate in activities related to emotional well-being, mobility, and the exchange of best practices. The school is named after Draga Bajca, a Slovenian poet, journalist, and anti-fascist fighter, and he is commemorated with a plaque and a monument in front of the building. His work and attitude became a symbol of his love for the Slovenian language, his courage, and his resistance to injustice. A touching gesture was the children’s handwriting of posters dedicated to the Competition.

Niški kulturni centar — Cultural Center of Niš

The next, 10th, international exhibition has arrived in Serbia. But it wasn’t just the exhibition that made a mark in Serbia in 2024. We were also invited to the prestigious international symposium “Raising Children Through Art,” where we presented a comprehensive presentation of the Competition’s objectives, ideas, and process. The symposium took place in an unusual place – the Saint Prohor Pcinjski Monastery.
The exhibition was presented at the Niš Cultural Center, in one of the oldest cities not only in the Balkans but also in Europe – Niš. The first settlements existed here in prehistoric times. Emperor Constantine the Great was born in Niš. The gallery has a strong national reputation as a place that brings together artists and audiences from various fields of art and culture. On the Serbian side, the exhibition was organized by the art director of the Niš Cultural Center, Nikola Milovanović and the remarkable artist and educator Natasa Dejanovic Dimitrijevic.

Gallery of the Union of Artists of Armenia

The final works of the 3rd edition of the Competition were presented at the 9th (outside of Poland) exhibition in Armenia – in the enormous gallery of the Union of Artists of Armenia – one of the most important cultural institutions in Yerevan and Armenia in general, serving as an exhibition center. We felt honored! The works were displayed in one of the two largest rooms of this facility – the Martiros Saryan Hall (he was one of the most outstanding painters in Armenian history, considered the founder of the Armenian National School of Modern Painting). The gallery is located in the heart of the city (right next to Charles Aznavour Square), and is a place where modernity meets the rich tradition of Armenian visual art.
On the Armenian side, the organizer was Paravon Mirzoyan, long-time director of the National Gallery of Armenia. The exhibition was coordinated by ART PR company, whose director Gayane Davtyan and her team provided a wonderful artistic environment. Students and artists from various art schools were invited.
ART PR is a specialized company for organizing cultural and artistic events.
Gayane: “Together, we have also organized Paravon Mirzoyan’s solo exhibition in Poland, and we still have many projects to implement.”

The final works for the 8th exhibition were flown to Malta, to St. Theresa College, a secondary school in the town of Mrieħel. This public secondary school operates within St. Theresa College. The institution provides secondary education for school-aged youth, emphasizing a safe and supportive learning environment, student personal development, learning, and participation in international projects such as the Erasmus+ SAFE program, which engages students in activities related to sustainable development and intercultural cooperation. Mrieħel is the modern industrial and business heart of Malta, known primarily as a major financial and corporate center, including the headquarters of the Malta Stock Exchange and numerous banks. The city is centrally located between Mdina (the old capital) and Valletta (the present-day capital), making it a key point on Malta’s logistical map.

For the 7th exhibition outside of Poland, the works arrived in North Macedonia in 2023, at EUROPE HOUSE in Strumica. Young artists and their families attended the opening ceremony in large numbers. There was a lot of positive excitement, including the screening of a documentary about the Competition’s patroness, and the award ceremony (as Macedonian children won prizes). The wonderful catering was organized by the DIMITAR VLAHOV school.
EUROPE HOUSE is a social and cultural center created at the initiative of the European Union Delegation as part of the “Places of the New Generation” network—places dedicated to young people from across the country. The facility opened in February 2021 with the aim of becoming a space for meetings, debates, creation, and the exchange of ideas. Europe House serves primarily as a youth hub—hosting exhibition openings, literary promotions, debates on youth, culture, and the role of the European Union, workshops, discussions, film screenings, debates on social issues, and artistic events inspired by European values. It serves as a space where young people can connect, develop skills and actively participate in community life. The Macedonian organizers were Ana Klesova Velkovska, even manager of Europe House and the renowned painter Ljupka Gałązka-Vasilev. The part of she`s surname is a Polish and she speaks fluent Polish, but she was born in Macedonia.

Cultural Centre of Ierapetra

Ierapetra is the southernmost point of Europe. The city built the “Steki Neolaias” facility in the center, in a magnificent style dating back to centuries ago. It hosts Crete’s most important cultural events, many of them international in scope. The 6th international exhibition of the Competition was presented here.
“Steki Neolaias” hosts film festivals, concerts, and social events. Ierapetra is also home to the “International Documentary Festival of Ierapetra & Awards.” Furthermore, the city is known for its ancient archaeological sites, including those related to Napoleon’s stay and the Turkish occupation.
Ierapetra and its surroundings attract tourists with their beautiful beaches and clear blue sea. Every year, the region hosts renowned artists from around the world. It is precisely because “Steki Neolaias” hosts particularly prestigious cultural and artistic events that we felt particularly honored. The organizer from the Greek side was Sylwia Janowska – an outstanding artist, teacher and social activist who has lived in Crete for many years.

Museo Irpino — Palazzo della Cultura

The third exhibition in Italy (fourth abroad) opened at the Museo Irpino in Avellino in 2022. The museum is located in one of the region’s most important monuments – the “Monumental Complex of the Former Bourbon Prison,” built by the Bourbons in the 19th century. It was a great honor and a unique pleasure for us to present the children’s final works alongside prestigious permanent exhibitions – documenting the struggle for Italian unification in the region, and presenting the most outstanding artists of Italian Campania, often associated with the so-called Neapolitan School (Cesare Uva, Giovanni Battista, Vincenzo V. Bolpe, Francesco Saverio Altamura).
The building itself is breathtaking – built on a hexagonal plan with five wings radiating from a central point surrounding a vast courtyard, its floor area covers 9,000 square meters. It also houses the state archives.

The exhibition in Mexico City was the fifth consecutive international exhibition of the finalist children’s works. The PASOS Foundation (Fundacion Mis Primeros Pasos VII AC) provided its space – a non-profit organization based in Mexico City that has been supporting children’s development for many years. The foundation’s main goal is the early detection and treatment of developmental disorders in children (ranging from mild to severe) and supporting their integration into families and society. A team of volunteers supports people with disabilities, particularly autism and Down syndrome.
The Polish Embassy in Mexico and Ela Elly Piotrowska shouldered the burden of organizing the exhibition on the Mexican side. Maciej Ziętara, the then Polish Ambassador in Mexico City, attended the opening. It was an incredibly moving event!

Lyktan Gallery, Skogas

The first exhibition of the Contest`s finalists outside of Poland took place in Sweden – at the LYKTAN gallery in Skogås. This is the Stockholm metropolitan area, and Lyktan, which means “lighthouse”, is an association of Swedish artists, led by Grazyna Kulpa since 2005. The association brings together artists from all artistic disciplines residing in Sweden, although many of them come from both near and far – even from South America and Asia. The association is known throughout Scandinavia for many projects, not only in the arts but also across a wide range of cultural activities. It hosts internationally renowned artists (including National Geographic photographer Brutus Östling, painter Valeria Montti Colque, sculptor Heikki Haapanen…), as well as local folk artists and enthusiasts of various fields. LYKTAN also organizes concerts, and a knitting and crafts club, renowned throughout Sweden, and a poetry club have found their home here. Instructors lead classes for children. The gallery is an incredibly warm and welcoming place where everyone feels welcome. Here, you can not only enjoy the latest exhibition, attend a concert, but also learn new skills or simply chat and relax.
